Jane Matney was born 1810-15 TN and died by 1850 Macon Co, MO. She married Thomas T Mayben by 1846 Macon Co, MO. Thomas was deceased by 1850. They had 2 children, Martha J. b.1847, married 1st William Doyle, and married 2nd Henry Fitzhugh. Stephen B. b. 1849 Mo, married Virginia Jane Mayhew. 1843 Thomas Mayben owned land in Macon Co, MO. By 1850 census their children lived with grandparents Broadwater and Sally Matney. It is unknown what happened to them, but it was a time Indian uprisings in the area, and cholera epidemics. Elisha A Matney was guardian of Martha , and Broadwater Matney was guardian of Stephen. 1864 Elisha Matney took his father Broadwater, and Martha & Stephen Mayben to Oregon by wagon train to be with family.
