"Walter was born 1817 in Knox Co TN ; Death date about 1873-74, place of burial unknown

Walter was on the 1843 wagon train with the Applegates.

His bros are James M & Elisha A and Carrel B Matney

Walter married his 1st wife Martha J April 1847 at Polk Co, OR; Martha died June 1852

2 children = Sarah Jane & Carrel S Matney

Walter married Julia Ann Cooper March 1853 at Polk Co, OR

Chil/ of Walter and Julia are ; Artemissa, George R, James J, Jefferson Davis, John B, Lewis A, Ida M & William Henry

Julia married Hiram C Rowe 1879 Home of Julia and Walter, place of death and burial are unknown for Julia and Walter
Hiram died 1912 Newburg,Ore

James M, Elisha A & Carrel B were on the 1850 census in father Broadwater Matney's household in 1850 at Macon Co, MO. Their mother was Sarah "Sally" (McCully) Matney daughter of John A & Jane (Farris) McCully.

Jim Matney returned to MO as he was scout for the 1852 wagon train his future bride Mary Frances Cooper was on. He married Mary Frances Cooper 1859 at Polk Co, OR. Jim & Mary raised their 10 children on the farm on Dry Creek. Jim died 1906 at Central Point, OR.
